Pattern making..

I   c o p i e d   a r o u n d   t h e   s t a n d a r d i s e d   b l o c k s   s o   t h a t   I   h a d   a   m a s t e r   c o p y   t o   r e f e r   b a c k   t o .   T h i s   w o u l d   m a k e   m y   d e v e l o p m e n t   a   l o t   e a s i e r   a s   w h e n   I   m a d e   m y   a l t e r a t i o n s   a n d   a   m i s t a k e   w a s   m a d e   I   w o u l d   b e   a b l e   t o   s e e   w h e r e   I   w e n t   w r o n g .   T h e n ,   I   p i n n e d   p a p e r   t o   m y   m a n n e q u i n   a n d   s t a r t   f r e e l y   s k e t c h i n g   r o u g h l y   w h e r e   m y   s t y l e   l i n e s   w o u l d   b e .   A f t e r   t h i s   I   t i d i e d   t h e m   u p   a n d   m a d e   t h e m   a c c u r a t e   t o   m y  f i n a l   d e s i g n .

Final Design

I  h a v e   c h o s e n   t h i s   a s   m y   f i n a l   d e s i g n   a s   i t   c o m b i n e s   e l e m e n t s   o f   m y   t i t l e   a n d   a l s o   f e a t u r e s   o f   a n   a q u a s c u t u m   g a r m e n t .   T h e   j a c k e t   f e a t u r e s   a   n o t c h   l a p e l ,   a n   o v e r s i z e d   j e t   p o c k e t   a n d   i n s e t s   a r o u n d   t h e   c o l l a r   a n d   r e v e r .

Fabric Choices..

Paul Smith donated fabric to uni, initially we were going to be allowed to choose from the choices above. However due to the fabric being so light weighted, it was considered best to buy our own fabrics.

Seeing as the choices for fabric shops around birmingham are limited; a trip to london was arranged so that we could get samples from the cloth houses on Berwick street, and basically have a nosey to see what was on offer to us...

I liked a lot of the fabrics that I got samples of, different qualities in each one.

For the past week or so I have been designing from my research and concept boards. Including sketching out front and back technical drawings for each jacket, so that the details are clear.
